The Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), also known as the Japanese B encephalitis virus, is the causative agent of Japanese encephalitis. It is spherical in shape, with a single-stranded RNA genome and an outer envelope that contains hemagglutinin on its surface. Piglets serve as the primary reservoir and intermediate host for the virus, while mosquitoes act as the transmission vector. When a human is bitten by an infected mosquito, the virus enters the body, replicates in vascular endothelial cells, lymph nodes, liver, spleen, and other phagocytic cells, spreads through the bloodstream, and causes inflammation in the brain.| Typical data
